When Regina Dipadova founded Inside Out in 1990, it was in the heyday of Focus on the Family and Colorado Springs’ reputation as a city of hate. Dipadova recognized that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, asexual, queer, questioning and two-spirit (LGBTQIA2+) youth in the Tava (Pikes Peak) region are at highest risk in their peer group for various health-related problems, including drug and alcohol abuse, school drop-out, physical abuse, sexual abuse, homelessness, and suicide.
Denver Health’s LGBTQ+ Health Services is committed to a decentralized model of health care for LGBTQ+ people across Colorado – meaning that any LGBTQ+ person should be met with open, excellent, affirming care. Within the decentralized model, LGBTQ+ Health Services provides LGBTQ+ patients with patient navigation services for primary care needs and gender affirming surgery.

Center for Children's Advocacy
CCA’s LGBTQ+ Youth Advocacy Project brings legal resources directly to LGBTQ+ youth. A CCA attorney is embedded in the Yale Pediatric Gender Program as part of the Medical-Legal Partnership with Yale New Haven Hospital. CCA also partners with community organizations like the New Haven Pride Center to provide legal advice and education to youth in a low-barrier setting.
Q Plus started as a grassroots, community based, youth led, volunteer run organization with the goal of filling gaps we saw in queer youth programming across Connecticut.

Through public forums, the commission acts as a mechanism where LGBTQ+ organizations can exchange ideas and information and advocate for awareness and protections for the community against bigotry, violence, hatred, and other forms of discrimination.

The largest civil rights organization dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community. We're changing Florida through lobbying, grassroots organizing, education, and coalition building — so that no one suffers harassment or discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
We serve, nurture, and empower LGBTQ youth, their families, and their communities while advocating for the equal rights and equitable treatment of young people in affirmation of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
They work to expand access to LGBTQ-inclusive education and sexual health resources for youth in South Florida. It's our goal to make sure everyone feels included in their community, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
We support the empowerment of LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults through leadership, advocacy, resources, and a safe and affirming community. LGBTQIA+ teens’ and young adults’ identities, aspirations and contributions are valued and affirmed.
They offer a weekly peer-to-peer support group for LGBTQ youth in Central Florida since 1990. Today, four groups are offered: Orlando, Lakeland, Kissimmee and Longwood. Monthly social, educational and recreational activities occur to further help our youth to develop a core group of friends and peer supporters.
Was created in 1992 by individuals who were alarmed at the statistics documenting high rates of suicide among gay and lesbian teens. In cooperation with other local organizations such as Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG); Planned Parenthood; and YMCA Youth and Family Services, volunteers were recruited to conduct a support group for Sarasota area youth.
A pioneering South Florida organization devoted to the emotional, social, and practical needs of marginalized communities and people facing barriers to care. What began as a small team of advocates and therapists has evolved into a trusted regional resource that provides mental health counseling, housing support, senior care, youth and family programs, and specialized services for priority populations and people with diverse life experiences.
The Pride Center at Equality Park

SAVE is Florida’s longest serving organization dedicated to protecting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) against discrimination. Since 1993, SAVE has advocated for equal rights for persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
We believe in providing a safe space for LGBTQIA+ youth to discover themselves, feel empowered and build confidence. Our programs encourage self-awareness and promote a sense of community all while providing the resources necessary to thrive.
The At-Risk Youth Program provides free mental health counseling and support groups for youth across Miami-Dade County, including services at local public high schools and JCS regional offices. The ‘Better Decisions, Better Life’ program is designed to support young people at greater risk for depression, suicide, bullying, substance use, homelessness, and school dropout.

We’re Georgia’s longest-running nonprofit dedicated to serving the LGBTQ+ community. Since 1971, we’ve been a driving force for change, advocating for the Queer community and offering resources on gender and sexuality throughout the Southeastern U.S.
We were started by a group of local Atlanta activists. They were turned away when attempting to place queer youth into local shelters and youth aid programs, and resolved that something needed to be done to address the immediate need.
As the business voice of Georgia’s LGBTQ+ community and our allies, OUT Georgia Business Alliance represents a diverse network including small business, nonprofit, and corporate members who are united in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging throughout Georgia’s workplaces and economy.
In 1998, the LGBTQ+ community of Athens, GA gathered for a potluck picnic under the pavilion at Lake Herrick. Initially hosted by GLOBES, an LGBTQ faculty and staff group at the University of Georgia founded by local hero Annette Hatton, the event grew and formed into an independent organization governed by volunteers who formed the “Athens PRIDE Committee.”

Produces Honolulu Pride, hosts the LGBTQ+ Center Honolulu and creates educational programs that inform and empower Hawaiʻi’s LGBTQIA+ community. We also provide financial and in-kind support to organizations addressing social, health and economic inequalities in our communities.
Social stigma, micro-aggressions, discrimination, and even outright violence have been reported by SGM people throughout their lives, in multiple settings. Such negative experiences can contribute to severe health outcomes such as depression, substance use, self-harm, and suicidality.

Founded in December 1983, The Community Center (TCC) is devoted to the LGBTQIA+ and allied population. Brave Space Alliance
BSA is an LGBTQ+ focused community center on Chicago's South Side that welcomes and serves all who come through our doors. We strive to empower, embolden, and educate each other through mutual aid, knowledge-sharing, and the creation of community-sourced resources as we build a world of liberty and justice for all.
We are community to each other and to the thousands of LGBTQ+ people we serve in Chicagoland and beyond. We listen to understand, evolve as needs change, and intentionally foster belonging by creating opportunities for fellowship, collaboration, healing, and joy. We intentionally create opportunities for laughter, celebration, creativity, and levity, while also honoring grief and healing. Together we find strength, hope, and the energy to keep moving forward together.
The Office of Student Health and Wellness recognizes that there are a number of strategies which can be used to enhance school climate and make schools safer and more welcoming to LGBTQ students. The Office of Student Health and Wellness offers two professional developments around creating safe and supportive environments for LGBTQ and all youth to school staff and administration.

The youth in the care of Illinois DCFS have the legal right to be free from verbal, emotional and physical harassment in their placements, schools and communities; and the adults involved in their care have a legal and ethical obligation to ensure that they are safe and protected. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex and asexual (LGBTQIA) youth have the right to be treated equally, to express their gender identity and to have the choice to be open or private about their sexual orientation, gender expression and gender identity.
Queer Coalition is Illinois State University’s LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, and graduate student affinity group. Please note that the university also has an LGBTQA+ Alumni Network and several queer-focused registered student organizations, including Pride, Drag Royalty, and Queer Ed Birds.
PFLAG Council of Northern Illinois
The Council is a coalition of PFLAG chapters within the greater Chicago land area. It was formed in the late 1990’s as a vehicle for unifying PFLAG’s presence and voice in Northern Illinois. Many chapters working together can accomplish far more than chapters acting individually. The Council provides a point of contact for media persons, community organizations that wish to work jointly with PFLAG, corporations that need speakers especially during Pride Month, and individuals seeking PFLAG’s assistance in a variety of areas.
The Alliance, which made PHIMC its home in 2019, envisions a world in which youth develop to their fullest potential, learning in safe and nurturing schools, living in communities that accept and honor differences, where everyone has the freedom to express their sexual orientation and gender identity.

IOWA
We were founded in 2005 to advocate for LGBTQ Iowans’ right to marry. The original goal of the organization was realized on April 3, 2009 when the Iowa Supreme Court made the unanimous decision in Varnum v. Brien to make marriage equality a reality in Iowa.
All students need a safe, supportive atmosphere in which they can learn, including students that are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning (LGBTQ). Unfortunately, bullying, harassment, and discrimination against LGBTQ students occurs often in our schools. In fact, 82% of transgender youth report that they feel unsafe at school and 74.1% of LGBTQ students were verbally bullied because of their sexual orientation.
Our mission is to serve, support, and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies by providing a safe and inclusive space for accessing knowledge, engaging in experiences that inspire curiosity, fostering critical thinking, and deepening understanding of LGBTQIA+ history for all.
While best known for producing the annual PrideFest weekend celebration, Capital City Pride also leads nearly 100 programs and events throughout the year to embrace every aspect of our community. KANSAS
We started simply enough with a Facebook page that was created to give LGBTQ+ people in Kansas a place to communicate, make friends, and share their stories in a safe and affirming environment. The idea for a queer-safe online platform came after a tragic event shook our founder’s community. He questioned how, in small-town, rural Kansas, he did not know that there was another transgender person just a few minutes away.
We advocate for legislation that will advance our mission of ending discrimination, preventing school bullying, preserving LGBT voting rights and protecting marriage equality. We fight against bills that would outlaw LGBT parenting options, legalize discrimination against LGBT Kansans in the name of “religious freedom,” and all other attempts to restrict or deny rights to the Kansas LGBT population.
Since 1936, the ACLU has been a force for LGBTQ+ rights, and we are proud to keep that fight alive in Kansas. Even as the nation moves forward toward equality for all people, there are still many who seek to create unnecessary obstacles for people in the LGBTQ+ community. In recent years, new Kansas laws have also created additional barriers for LGBTQ+ people, particularly transgender Kansans, making it more difficult to safely and fully participate in everyday life.
We have a central meeting place for people and organizations interested in LGBTQ+ awareness, we are continuing to grow an LGBTQ+ library, and have literature and contact information for other LGBTQ+ organizations throughout the city and state. We hope to continually expand to make available many more resources for all of our community.

Founded in 2006, Baton Rouge Pride was initially designed to provide a gathering and celebration for the LGBTQ+ community in the area and educational and community-building events centered on a community resource fair. Since the first Baton Rouge Pride Festival in 2007, the event has steadily grown to be Louisiana's largest pride celebration – with thousands of visitors and scores of community resource fair participants each year for the South’s largest indoor, family-friendly pride celebration.
We started in 2021 to throw an impromptu block party that would grow into the Pride Acadiana celebration. We have since grown our mission to providing opportunities for LGBTQ+ people of all ages in Acadiana to show up for one another, and to promote the positive visibility of queer people throughout the community.

In 2013, a group of people interested in queer history met the home of the late Stewart Butler. At that meeting, Butler, who was 83 at the time, showed us dozens of boxes of papers and other items he had collected and saved throughout his 35 year career as an LGBT+ activist. After briefly describing what was in the boxes—newsletters, agendas, and meeting minutes from organizations to which he belonged, personal letters, etc.—he looked at us and asked, “What’s going to happen to all this stuff when I die?”

Maryland Commission on LGBTQIA+ Affairs
Under the Governor’s Offices of Community Initiatives, the Commission on LGBTQIA+ Affairs was created by the 2021 Maryland General Assembly by HB130 - PDF - PDF - PDF and later altered by HB141 - PDF - PDF - PDF during the 2023 legislative session, which renamed the commission to the Commission on LGBTQIA+ Affairs and increased the number of members from 15 to 21. The Commission is mandated to assess the challenges facing LGBTQIA+ communities, study and establish best practices for inclusion, and offer testimony before legislative and administrative bodies.

Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth
The Commission was originally founded in 1992 by Governor William Weld. The original Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth was designed to respond to high suicide risk among gay and lesbian youth in the Commonwealth. That original Commission transformed in 2006 into an independent state agency established by law. Today, we are the Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Youth.
For nearly 50 years, BAGLY (The Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth) has been a youth-led, adult-supported social support organization, committed to social justice and creating, sustaining, and advocating for programs, policies, and services for the LGBTQ+ youth community in Massachusetts.
Since 2011, OUT MetroWest has risen to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ youth, launching new programs based on community demand. We act as a social hub for LGBTQ+ youth, offering weekly programs for middle and high schoolers, monthly programs for elementary youth and young adults, frequent community-wide events, and education sessions for the broader community.
The only queer youth organization in Springfield MA, Out Now provides a safe space for queer youth & allies who are 22 yrs and under to learn about themselves, develop lasting friendships and leadership skills, explore LGBTQ+ history, and so much more.
Not all LGBTQIA+ children and youth have been welcomed, wanted, or safe in the homes where they were raised. In 1995, a program was started in Boston to support LGBTQIA+ youth living in foster care. Once funding for the original program ended, a group of volunteers including Mark Bilotta, Al Toney III and Judi Kirk, continued the work as Safe Homes of Central Massachusetts, a program for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth who were homeless or living in unsafe environments.
The Theater Offensive’s OUT in Your Neighborhood strategy builds on 30 years of our organization’s rich history. In 1989, Abe Rybeck and a group of artist-activists formed The Theater Offensive (TTO) to expand on the success of the gay men’s guerrilla theater troupe: United Fruit Company. From 1989 through 2009, they created edgy art and theater festivals, bringing well-known Queer theater artists to Boston, and showcased vibrant queer theater artists and troupes from New England. The Theater Offensive was also one of the leading theaters to celebrate bold and vibrant Queer theater nationally.

The name “Jim Toy” is synonymous with the queer movement in the state of Michigan. The first publicly “out” man in Michigan (1970), Jim established the first campus center in history devoted to the support of sexual minority group members. His status as a TBLG icon is based on over 40 years of tireless effort to create safety and equality for people of all sexual and gender identities through his speaking, teaching, writing, administrating, organizing, and protesting. The Jim Toy Community Center is honored to be associated with his name and to dedicate its work to his causes.

Transforming Families is a community where transgender, gender non-conforming, and questioning youth and their families come together to support each other in a welcoming and respectful space. We were founded in 2014 by a group Lesbian and Queer activists who were organizing at the time for marriage equality. They knew that in order for our community to thrive, we needed a space of our own, so they pooled their funds and purchased the little house that used to be a nursery on 2 25th Ave. They started with folding chairs and empty walls, and over the years the volunteer leadership changed and programs shifted.

MISSOURI
As the LGBTQ+ equality movement grew into the 1990s, PREP restructured into PROMO in an effort to center its time, mission, and resources to LGBTQ+ equality. PROMO remains a committed ally to our partner organizations and parallel movements and is the leading statewide public policy and advocacy organization providing resources, educational materials, and advocacy for queer equality and safety.
Since we started this work we've been dedicated to making sure that the rights of the LGBTQ+ community were protected. The lack of legal protection in Missouri's constitution meant that if the Supreme Court revisited and overturned Obergfell v. Hodges, marriage equality in this state would be erased. Thank goodness that didn't happen.
We provide a safe, affirming space for LGBTQIA+ Mid-Missourians to learn, grow, build community, and access support and resources. We envision a Central Missouri where LGBTQIA+ people can thrive free from discrimination, connected to affirming support, experiencing equitable health outcomes, and empowered to live authentically and safely.
First opened on October 11, 1995, known as National Coming Out Day within LGBTQ History Month. Today, the University of Missouri center continues to be a source of community, learning and pride. The center hosts interactive, educational experiences, study and focus space, events and opportunities to make new connections and a free library offering hundreds of selections.
We have led the way in the region by implementing several initiatives to support our LGBTQ+ residents and employees. All people are welcome no matter their race, religion, sex, or gender identity.
We envision a liberated St. Louis where queer and trans people of all identities are safe, secure, and empowered through compassion, healing, and community.
Thus began a tradition which is still strong today in St. Louis. June is now officially recognized as LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and since the first PrideFest in 1981, St. Louis' own event has grown in size, attendance, and scope.
